The Macworld Experience -- Day 4
By WilliamLH
August 8, 1997 Boston, MA. - Today starts another day of seeing the various developers and manufacturers as well as attending more conferences and tutorials. Power Computing is one of the strongest presences here at MacWorld even amid the licensing fiasco, they manage to stir up the crowd with demos and giveaways and they prove that they "Fight Back for the Mac", Apple should take a lesson from this company, they know how to market their product. I am disappointed that I did not get a shirt from them but it seems most companies are a bit tighter this year with the "freebies". The exceptions are Alien Skin Software (I'll wear their shirt with pride ;->), Lasso who produces software for FileMakerPro and believe it or not, Apple Computer Inc. who gave all the press a Macworld Expo shirt (yes, Cory, I have one for you!) and Mac OS 8 shirt and, finally, HotLine gave me a HotLine cap complete with their URL on back (cool bunch of programmers!).
The buzz about Apple's announcement has not died down and it seems that people are starting to let it sink in. Most people are optimistic about Apple's future and seem to be accepting Microsoft's involvement. I personally am more worried about Larry Ellison's involvement, I do not want network Mac's on my desk, I like having a hard drive, CD-ROM drive and freedom. But I digress.
I am tired, Macworld Expo is a lot of walking and talking and by days end you are tired, there are several parties again tonight but due to where I am staying in Framingham, MA. I'll pass and head back to the motel, the last train leaves at 11:05 pm. and if I miss it I'm stranded! (Macworld Traveler's Alert: STAY IN TOWN WHEN YOU COME TO MACWORLD!) G-Night all.
