Coach Group’s Rename for Further Brand Diversification

On October 11, 2017, the New York luxury goods group Coach, Inc announced that it will change the name of the company to Tapestry, Inc. This change will take effect on October 31, 2017.

Currently, Coach Group owns lifestyle brands Coach, Kate Spade New York and footwear brand Stuart Weitzman. In explaining the name change, Victor Luis, Chief Executive Officer of Coach, Inc., said that the company needed to find new company names during the strategic transformation period and finally found that the name Tapestry best reflected the company’s essence on shared platforms and values.

“We believe that Tapestry can grow together with our existing brand portfolio and continue to enter new product categories and markets.
